In December 2014, Walker's father, Paul William Walker III, filed a lawsuit against Roger Rodas's estate seeking the return of, or "a proportionate share" of revenue generated by a group of automobiles that were jointly owned by both Walker and Roger Rodas.[67]
In September 2015, Walker's daughter filed a suit against Porsche for wrongful death of her father, claiming that the sports car that her father was in had numerous design defects.[68] Namely, that the Porsche Carrera GT has had a history of instability and that seat belt placement within the vehicle can cause harm upon impact.[69]
On September 29, 2015, it was reported that according to Porsche Cars North America spokesperson Calvin Kim, the manufacturer has not yet seen the lawsuit and would not comment on it. He stated: "As we have said before, we are saddened whenever anyone is hurt in a Porsche vehicle, but we believe the authorities’ reports in this case clearly established that this tragic crash resulted from reckless driving and excessive speed."[70] As of November, 2015, Porsche's response to the wrongful death suit denies any wrongdoing, and, in fact, blames Walker himself. Legal papers on behalf of Porsche state, "The perils, risk, and danger were open and obvious and known to him, and he chose to conduct himself in a manner so as to expose himself to such perils, dangers, and risks, thus assuming all the risks involved in using the vehicle."[71] Regardless, lawyers for Meadow Walker assert the car company is at fault.
